How it works

However you collect models, they end up organised.

Browser to library

Save all the details with the model.

MeshVault Connect is the workflow that makes the whole system feel different. Capture the title, author, source URL, tags, description, and gallery images from supported model sites, then see the model appear in the Windows vault with context already attached.

  • Designed for model browsing sessions, not manual spreadsheet-style cataloging
  • Works with MeshVault open or running in the tray
Supported model sites:
Printables
Thingiverse
MakerWorld
Creality Cloud
Cults3D
Thangs
GrabCAD
CGTrader
MyMiniFactory
Makerables
Tinkercad

Import and image generation

Drop in old files and make them look like a library.

Manual imports still matter. MeshVault can index loose files, folders, and archive packages across the supported library formats, even when a specific format cannot be previewed or used for automatic image generation.

  • Import single files or folders
  • Generate thumbnails and extra model views for supported files
  • Use distinct model colors so generated libraries do not all look identical

Model viewer

Preview, measure, inspect, and capture renders.

The viewer gives users confidence before they send a file to a slicer. It supports common mesh/CAD formats, G-code layer inspection, measurement with Ctrl+click, build plate reference, and render capture back into the model gallery.

  • Preview STL, OBJ, 3MF, STEP/STP, GLB/GLTF, PLY, and G-code
  • Measure in metric or imperial units
  • Capture preview renders as model images

Android browsing and downloading

Keep phone downloads clean instead of trapped.

MeshVault Companion is free to install. It keeps a structured model folder on Android so files downloaded on a phone can still be browsed, checked, and moved later without relying on cloud sync. MeshVault Pro unlocks connected transfer and ecosystem licensing features.

  • Browse, search, and preview supported files in the phone-side library
  • Transfer models to connected MeshVault apps and servers
  • Good for users who discover models away from the PC

Phone web server

Serve the phone library on local Wi-Fi.

The Companion's local web server lets another device browse and download phone-stored files over the local network. It is a practical bridge for moving models without cloud accounts or extra desktop software.

  • Open the phone-hosted library from a Windows browser
  • Download files from the Android MeshVault folder
  • Useful for quick transfers on the same network

Downloads and platforms

Download MeshVault.

Choose a desktop app for Windows, macOS, or Linux, a dedicated server, a browser extension, or the Android companion.

License

Try it for seven days.

Windows, Linux, and server builds include a seven-day trial. The Apple silicon macOS beta is currently free. One direct licence key unlocks supported builds, with Microsoft Store and Android Pro unlock options also available.

Desktop apps

Manage a local MeshVault library.

Use the desktop app when the library lives on the machine you are working from. Windows is the reference release, macOS is in free Apple silicon beta, and Linux is available for testing.

Windows Microsoft Store or direct installer.
macOS beta Free during beta. Native Apple silicon build for arm64 Macs.
Linux Debian package for Linux desktop testing.
Dedicated servers

Host a library on another machine.

Use a server when your library should live on a workshop PC, mini PC, home server, or another always-on machine. Writes are available during the seven-day trial and after unlock; an expired, locked server remains available for read-only browsing.

Windows server Installer or zip package with the server UI and start scripts.
Linux server Debian package for installing the server UI, or tar package for manual/server use.
Android companion

Browse and move models from your phone.

Keep a clean MeshVault folder on your phone and browse supported models locally. MeshVault Pro adds connected transfer and ecosystem unlock workflows.

Android Available on Google Play.
Browser extensions

Capture downloads and metadata from model sites.

Install MeshVault Connect in your browser to send supported model downloads into a desktop app or server with title, author, source, description, tags, and images where available.

Chrome, Edge, Firefox Use the extension that matches your browser.

Useful details

Useful tools for a growing library.

After the main Windows workflow, these are the practical things that keep MeshVault useful day-to-day without needing cloud accounts or a locked-in folder structure.

Portable

The database is kept in the library folder so you can use it across multiple installs and still keep your entire library intact.

Preview, measure, and capture

Use the native viewer for common mesh, CAD, and G-code formats, inspect build plates, measure models, and save preview captures back into the gallery. Multi-body 3MF colours and materials are preserved where available.

Multi-plate projects

Move between separate plates in supported 3MF and G-code projects instead of treating a multi-plate job as one undifferentiated model.

Fill in missing images

When an imported model has no useful thumbnail, MeshVault can generate images for supported geometry or use images already embedded in supported packages.

Archive-aware library

Keep downloaded packages intact while still seeing supported contents, previewing single-model archives, and opening other files with their default apps.

Duplicate and cleanup help

Hash checks help catch duplicate imports, missing files are cleaned from the database, and empty folders can be tidied as the library changes.

Collections and folders

Use real folders for the filesystem and virtual collections for project groups, print queues, favourites, or anything that crosses folder boundaries.

Favourites

Mark individual or selected models as favourites and open them from a dedicated quick-access view, including models from a connected server.

Additional watch folders

Index external folders in place without moving their files into the main library. Their thumbnails and local index data stay on that computer.

Smarter browser re-imports

When a MeshVault Connect download already exists, choose whether to update the existing model, keep a new copy, or ask each time.

Local and server libraries together

Connect to a MeshVault Server and browse remote models alongside the local library, with clear remote markers and local slicer hand-off.

Slicer result capture

Track useful output from supported slicers, including print time, filament use, material, layer details, printer settings, and object counts.

PCBWay prep

Prepare supported files for PCBWay upload. Extracts ZIP archives to a clean temporary folder automatically, which is then safely cleaned up on the next launch.

File support

Supports over 30 file formats.

MeshVault indexes common meshes, CAD projects, G-code, and archives—complete with automatic thumbnail generation for popular geometry formats.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions.

MeshVault is local-first by design. Your models, images, and collections are indexed into a portable SQLite library database (.meshvault/meshvault.db) stored directly inside your library folder. No cloud logins, no mandatory internet connections, and your library can move freely between devices and platforms without losing metadata.

A single direct licence key unlocks supported MeshVault desktop and dedicated server builds. Windows can also use Microsoft Store licensing, while MeshVault Pro purchased on Android can unlock compatible connected apps and servers.

The library is portable because its database stays inside the library folder, so it can move between supported desktop clients on a portable drive. For simultaneous access from multiple computers, use MeshVault Server. File-sync tools may be suitable when only one client uses the library at a time, but concurrent syncing of the SQLite database can cause conflicts.

MeshVault Server is an optional lightweight headless client built for Windows and Linux. It allows you to run your model vault on a dedicated local machine (like a home server, spare PC, or workshop computer). You can then browse the library locally via web browser or connect the desktop clients and browser extension over your local area network (LAN).

Yes. MeshVault Companion is free to install on Android and can browse, search, and preview supported models stored on your phone. MeshVault Pro is available for connected transfers and can unlock compatible MeshVault desktop and server apps.

The current macOS beta is a native Apple silicon build for arm64 Macs. It is free while in beta and includes direct update support. Intel Macs are not supported by this release.
